There have been many great players in the history of Nebraska baseball. Alex Gordon and Darin Erstad are just a few names that come to mind, but Brice Matthews did something Thursday night that no Husker had done before.
Matthews became the first Husker player to hit 20 home runs and steal 20 bases in the same season. He picked up his 20th steal of the season in the top of the ninth inning of Nebraska’s 2–1 second round loss of the Big Ten Tournament against Maryland.

It was a rewarding week for the shortstop, who was named a First-Team All-Big Ten on Tuesday along with second baseman Max Anderson. The junior from Humble, Texas hit .412 for the season with 21 home runs, 69 RBI and 1,250 OPS on the season.
Nebraska’s loss to Maryland in extra innings on Thursday night means they will continue their Big Ten Tournament on Friday night at 7:00 PM.
