Notre Dame took a major blow when Logan Diggs chose to enter the transfer portal and exit South Bend.
The Irish lost one of their biggest contributors from last year as Diggs averaged 5 yards per carry, scored 6 runs and ran over 800 yards. For many, including head coach Marcus Freeman, the need to add more depth to the running back room seemed to be on the rise.

Enter former 4-star running back Devyn Ford, the Virginia native who played his first four seasons at Penn state, but may be eligible for another two years. Multiple injuries slowed his career as he left the program last season.
The Irish needed it and Ford wanted a fresh start. The game was made Friday night, when Ford committed to Notre Dame.

Ford brings experience to the position and if he can stay healthy he can make a significant contribution over the next two seasons.
